Hog Trap Needed.

Does anyone have a hog trap in the Tampa area that I can borrow? Found some rooting in yard. When I get one (hog) I can divide the meat with the trap owner.

I could, except I don't have a bow, and don't foresee getting one too soon. (Light bulb moment) I reckon this is a good chance to try my bow making skills. Great idea! Thanks.

Chief,

Not a good idea. Tampa, like most metropolitan areas have tree huggers that LOVE to drag knuckle dragger's into court for cruelty to animals.

Best you contact the local critter behavioral modification thugs,, The guys with the permit..

I can see it now:

Lightbulb Look at building...

A "field" expedient trap.

Stay safe.

Definitely good advice for a city slicker. Fortunately I live in the boonies on four acres. Taking hogs is legal all year round and common practice out here. Having said that, I should probably hit the human terrain see if any of them have a trap.

Yes, bow hunting is legal, even at night.

If I lived where you do "on 4 acres in the boonies."

I'd be figuring out different "wild pork" recipes.

Stay safe.

In that case, I look at your situation as an opportunity, not a problem.

Better check for tatooing first - somebody might've left the gate open and the Buccaneers cheerleaders got out again. Glazer hates it when that happens.

Absolutely, I've actually been waiting for one to enter my property. I've seen hog sign all over around here, especially in the nature preserve across the street, where hunting is illegal. But once they enter private property it's fair game. I thought about using a snare (cheap, effective) but my dog frequently escapes from her kennel, but a cage trap I think she would be alright. I need to think on it a little bit. A shotgun could be the ticket, 00 buck, but I'm reluctant to shoot with the cow fields surrounding the yard. I think a bow or cage trap would be the best options. If my dog were older, I'd get her in on the action, and then stick the hog with a knife.

That underlined part takes a good bit of training on the dog's part and if you love the critter some armor. I'd get a bow or crossbow (if legal in your AO) practice often as the good men above me stated.
