I believe that SF is a 'calling' - not too different from the calling missionaries I know received. I knew instantly that it was for me, and that I would do all I could to achieve it. I guess they were more concerned with having water to drink than solving Mannings's equation. They run out of drinking water in seven years. Or perhaps they had been eating fish caught from the water supply and the mercury had affected brain function.
