WikiLeaks cables: US agrees to tell Russia Britain's nuclear secrets

WikiLeaks cables: US agrees to tell Russia Britain's nuclear secrets

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...-secrets.html#

"Information about every Trident missile the US supplies to Britain will be given to Russia as part of an arms control deal signed by President Barack Obama next week.

Defence analysts claim the agreement risks undermining Britain’s policy of refusing to confirm the exact size of its nuclear arsenal.

The fact that the Americans used British nuclear secrets as a bargaining chip also sheds new light on the so-called “special relationship”, which is shown often to be a one-sided affair by US diplomatic communications obtained by the WikiLeaks website......................."

The Brits right no might be saying "With Friends like these..............."

Giving away Britain’s Strategic secrets is a no-no
Anyone want to hazard a guess on any Government on the planet that will now share intel with us.
It was called START. President Øbama signing the documents, seated at the Resolute Desk.
And always remember who stood there while he signed it.
Vice President Biden.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
Defense Secretary Robert Gates
Joint Chiefs Chairman Admiral Mike Mullen
Energy Secretary Steven Chu
Sens. John Kerry, D-Mass
Dick Lugar, R-Ind.
Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.
Thad Cochran, R-Miss

A 'tar baby' of a situation - we might have an agreement already in place which requires either side to provide such basic information to verify stockpile size, additions, reductions, destruction, modernization, and transfers.

Is Great Britain a signatory to this?

Did they consent to the release of their classified information?

I was a 'visitor' to the SALT/START/CFE talks (the land of officially non-official 'Non-White Papers') in Vienna in 1990 while in Bonn and directly involved again in 1991-1993 while in the USEUCOMs primary organization responsible for implementing the terms of the CFE agreements - complicated does not begin to describe what goes on with such matters.

Whether somebody like the UK is a signatory or not, if we alter our stockpile by providing them with an item which falls under the 'umbrella' of the terms of such an agreement, we may be obligated to provide a by-item listing (maybe just a SN with little associated info or even by type or ???) to show we've removed it from our inventory control.

As to exactly what any of that may entail here and whether or not the UK agrees/agreed to it or...

And so it goes...
