DLPT Testing - Waiting over a year
I looked around and didn't see this covered, if you can answer with a link I'll be embarrassed but grateful.
I am in a 2nd POG (now MISG) TPC. I've been waiting to take the DLPT for over a year. I keep sending it up my chain, and nothing happens. I need to test in three dialects of Arabic, one Eurasian language, and one SE Asian language. It seems to me that my unit should WANT me to take the test, and I shouldn't have to pull teeth to make it happen.
How would you go about getting it done?

Sending what up the chain? Go to your CLPM and tell them you would like to take the DLPT in X.
Rocket surgery it ain't.

Lindy speaks truth. Go to your post's education center and find out when and where. If you don't want to roll the dice with adverse action clear it with your first line supervisor before you go.

Could be way off here but Iam sure I had to have a 4187 signed by my CoC in order to take a DLPT. If so fill on out and go toyour frist line.

Bingo ! With that info, Google-Fu turned up following link. Will be reusing verbiage on a new 4187 and submitting to my TS. I just wish I had known what to look for a year ago!

Interesting that you'd have to run a 4187. Seems like you'd have to do the same for a CLEP? After all, doesn't 37F require foreign language proficiency?
I'm not questioning, I'm asking questions.
What about missing out on those past 12 months of language pay? Momma needs a new pair of shoes! (I needed you to pay taxes on that income to pay down the deficit but that's another thread.)

Are there any CLPMs on the board? I'm the CLPM for my Co, but haven't gotten the training yet. Would appreciate any assistance. Supposedly I will be able to get on orders to get some OJT with the CLPM at Bn, but I'm not holding my breath.
btw, 9 months after I started this thread, I'm still waiting to test. The requirements depend on the test center. One wanted a 4187, another one wanted a memo. I can't get anything signed!

I'll PM our CLPM. For what it's worth, here at Peterson AFB, we just go to the Education Center, register, and sit through 3 hours of crap just to learn the lang reading level. Oh, you get to do it again for another 3 hours to get the listening level.

Thanks! Our new CO is paying attention though, so hopefully these ongoing admin fails will end.
Now for that enlistment bonus installment the Army is over a year late on paying me...

But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.
