Congressmen Vote Without Being Sworn In

I was listening to the news at lunch while running some errands and heard that incumbent Pete Sessions and first-termer Mike Fitzpatrick illegally voted on 6 bills yesterday without having been sworn-in to office because they were at a fund raiser when the swearing-in took place - the bills had to be nullified and brought back for a revote.

These guys belong to the Party who read the Constitution in yesterday's opening session after having claimed the opposition had not been following the law.

This certainly does not boost my confidence in the competence of Congress - maybe Stein was not entirely incorrect in the observations he made 30 Dec on CNBC.

And so it goes...

lol You mean the GOP has in one fell swoop undermined your confidence in spite of the last 4 years of stunning Congressional political brilliance ?

Well, at least you had some confidence. I think I lost all confidence years ago, regardless of who holds the gavel.

FWIW, I'm at the point where sustained demonstrations of competence, professionalism, and institutional pride on the part of the house and senate would do more to restore my confidence than ticking off boxes on an agenda.

YMMV.
