Penn came to mind today:

Theft through Legalese. Is it any wonder why we will likely see increased hostilities towards Public Officials.....You work your whole life for something and the someone or something wants to take it from you for the 'Better Good'.

So in this case the County isn't making enough revenue off this old mans 38 acres (might be a nice place for a tax generating shopping mall), so the county put his nuts in a vise. The old mans choices are probably sell his land or the county will take one way or another. Rumor has the County Lawyer represents a Waste Management Company.....

ALEXANDRIA, Ind. (WISH) - 72-year-old Dick Thompson’s fight may soon be over — his land is up for sale.

“It brings tears to my eyes, and I don't shed tears very easy,” Thompson says of the mountain of support he’s received.

In recent days that includes a letter from Colorado with a check for $10 with “Land of the Free” in the memo line.

Thompson faced eviction from his 38 acres in Madison County. The county lawyer told 24-Hour News 8 it's because Thompson is breaking too many rules, laws and ordinances; Thompson has no water, no sewer and no electricity in his recreational trailer that he calls home. Bottom line: You can’t permanently live in a recreational vehicle. Now that the land is up for sale, it’s clear his trailer won’t be his permanent home.

Two weeks ago Thompson told 24-Hour News 8’s Brad Edwards : "I want to get the hell out of here right now — too much hate. I'm a country boy. I just want to be left alone."

The story got tens of thousand of hits on multiple YouTube pages and quickly became one of the top stories of the year at WISHTV.com. E-mails came in from New Jersey to Oregon, Orlando to Calgary. In a statement to 24 Hour News 8, the Indiana Sons of Liberty, a community militia, said: "It would be a great sight to see a thousand ‘Don't Tread on Me’ flags flying on Mr. Thompson's property."

Thompson was on the verge of tears with gratitude, saying, “Thank you for the support.”

From the Reno paper,...

Homeless is not just a Reno problem, but an epidemic throughout the world.

Families become fragmented unable to help one another. Many often says, “Not my problem.”, while others say, “Get off my sidewalk”.

If the “homeless” are homeless, then the problem of “Sidewalk” is simply a real estate problem, it is a logistical problem.

Send all abled boodied men to work camps, clean highways, janitorial services, etc.

Have qualified local businesses sellect candidates who can work, provide payroll, no less then 20-30 hours. Send all male non-abled bodies to locations far removed form Reno, (tent city, refugee camp 100 miles away). Fresh water, food can be provided, structure to accomondate any number of residents, (tents).

Medical services will be available at camps. City/State LEOs elliminate the access to illegal drugs, substance, etc.

Provide civil order.

Keep city provided rooms for women, children, (access to schools), individuals able to obtain work training who prove to be drug free.

Unless I’m mistaken we are not Kosovo, Somalia, Uganda - but under current trends we can expect curtain outcomes, but maybe that’s just me.

This scenario will cost no more than what is currently being spent, but it does create a buffer in order for city, state and federal managers to develop solutions. This is not the first rodeo I’ve been too. Families of displaced “homeless” will be given funds to accept their returning family members. If a family does not want them, why should society keep them?

A concerned Reno citizen with real world experiences.

Anonymous has it all figured out. He's a genius. I'm guessing he hasn't read the article himself nor examined all the reasons why the homeless populace exists.

This man's story is a popular topic here in God's country.
It is legaleze empowered, money grubbers that are pushing this man from his property.

Some of us here have offered to "reclassify" (mechanically alter) his current home to step around the ordnances, but what he really needs is some quality, free legal help.

It fries my ass when I read stories like this. It all started a few years back when a City Councilman I was working for asked if I wanted to sell my residence....Sure if you want to pay me top dollar. His response was that they would fair price i.e. only offer me the low-ball county appraisal, then he informed me he was joking.

But there was a catch that most residence in the city are unaware of...

The City Council ' very quietly' passed a measure that allows them to grab what they want though eminent domain. It was a necessary evil in the Councilman's eyes because the city was land locked and would need to find or create other means to generate income. So you can take what we offer, or we can just take.

Kansas City, MO did much the same with TIFF program. And more recently Kansas City, Kansas pulled the same stunts to build the NASCAR track and the shopping center adjacent to it. And in each case people in the know, the Good Ol'Boys Network of politicians, lawyers and their benefactors made big money on the sale of land they purchased with their insider information and coercion. The home/land owners who held out got F@%Ked.
