FAYETTEVILLE - Retired U.S. Army Master Sgt. Harrison Victor "Fitzy" Fitzwater, 66, of Fayetteville, passed away Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Harrison was born June 9, 1944, in Harrisburg, Va., to the late Harrison Dempsey and Landus Fitzwater. He is survived by his wife, Charlene J. Fitzwater of the home; a stepson, Bradford Williams and girlfriend Lori Willette of Fayetteville; a brother, Tony Fitzwater of West Virginia; seven sisters, Jennie Benson of Gaithersburg, Md., Linda Uskievich of Rockville, Md., Debbie Fitzwater of Virginia, Bonnie Fitzwater of Georgia, Brenda Fitzwater of Maryland, Patty Hopkins of Maryland and Kathy Culbreth of Hope Mills. A viewing was held Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home in Fayetteville. A memorial service will be held at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel at 2 p.m. today, Monday, Dec. 13, 2010. Interment in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake will be conducted at noon Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010. Services entrusted to Rogers and Breece Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
