Smile Bucks on the grunt

Been doing most of my hunting in an area about 100 yards from the back door. With the economy had to turn lose of the hunting club and put those monies some where else.

Put out 2 corn piles in 2 different locations. Got in the stand Thursday morning (11-11-10) and did some light rattling and grunting right after day break. At 0703am this 8 pt came in. Nothing special just a nice buck for the area.

Friday morning my son went to his stand at the same time I went to mine again. I did the same routine, rattle and grunt. About 700 I grunted again and heard...boom...boy has shot. He took a small 4 point. That is the first in a couple of years for him. He said anything come by its down. Yep it was...more fresh meat for the freezer.

That gives us 2 in the freezer for this year so far. Now to load up on some of those does that chow down on the corn piles...good thing I have 2 freezers for deer and fish.

Your sons' deer reminds me of the joke about first time deer hunters who were dragging the deer by the hind legs and an FOG told them it would drag easier if they didn't drag against the fur......etc.

P.S.

Anybody who hunts deer with their coffee cup handy is welcome to hunt with me

I told him to drag it the other way...youth has it own way to do things..but on the other hand...he only had to drag it about 75 yards from the woods to the gambel...

Our stands are pretty close to the back door..
