Facebook is tracking YOU
If you are on Facebook, know that they are gathering all the info on you they can and now they are tracking your movements.
TS
Recently the social engineering site FACEBOOK has introduced a new feature:
"Places I Checked Into". This feature allows "friends" to see exactly where you are logging in from.
Various OPSEC and DoD forums have indicated (via open source reporting) British forces have been targeted by terrorist/insurgent cells in the SWA AOR by using this feature.
Tactically, this FACEBOOK feature can be employed by an adversary to refine targeting and corroborate intelligence on specific sensitive locations and/or exploitable personnel.
Please ensure your personnel are aware of this risk.
You will find an attachment providing guidance on disabling this feature.
It is important to note the default for this feature is ON, unless overtly disabled by the user.

Done. Next step, delete FB account. It's benefits have lost almost all ground to the detriments.
If not for PS.com, I would never have known most of these FB issues.
Thanks, TS!

You can also use a public proxy server.
They're out there.

My wife has tried to get me to join to no avail. I have become a complete neanderthal in the eyes of friends and family for not joining the big social network. I am one of the few that still prefers to socialize in person, I guess. Or maybe I am just a loner . Either way, the less info about me on the interwebs the better, IMO.

This is why I have always refused to create accounts on these kinds of places. No thanks.

My Wife is really big into this site.
Looking at her profile. Like TS said you have to set your profile. Most web site track you IP address. But you as the user on FB have to allow this to happen. My wife showed me how you have to ok the "PLACES" click to "open" to your FREINDS. Only your FREINDS can see where your at. Whith that said, why in hell would you. Well yes I and you know why some no face to face people would. I think for us that have kids that are on these sites and kids now a days with cell phones at 10 y/o will only "meet" people viz txt or talk to each other via texting.
I think as a Active duty Military service member it is a OPSEC, I don't think people fully know what these site can and are doing. USMC if I remember right. Stopped all Marines from using these site on DoD systems and down range. Smart move.
Thanks for the post TS and the PDF. I know there was once one on here on what to protect yourself on FB and MS sites. I have those saved on my families computer/laptops.
I check me kids almost weekly. Did the sit down on why's and why not's of FB..MS sites. I don't think yound people today think about their future as much as they think they do. Told my 13 y/o, keep this in mind when you want a Job or go off to college at 18 y/o and you can't get into that college or get that job becuase of a post to a friend or photo on your social site. The speech of anything you post is forever on the internet.
