Land Nav at Fort Bragg

I have searched the website and asked every person that I work with including the higher ups for the grid coordinates for the land nav course in area j and no one has them. I am going to prc in a couple of weeks and have not been given a chance to do a refresher since no one has the grids. If anyone has them please pm me I would be very greatful.

Did you check with Range Control?

As TR stated, range control, or maybe even 82d Div G3. Don't they run an EIB course and some others out there in and around area J ??? They may have it.

The "old" NCOA Land Nav Course in NTA.

Check with Range Control as TR said, the WLC number through Range Control should have one. If your on Bragg, your Bn S3 training/range section too.

Thanks for the help. I will check with range control and my s3. They were running an eib course out there we were trying to tag along, didn't happen though.

Lan Nav Grids

I was a land nav instructor at SFQC Ph 1A, 2002-2004 (don't thinks it's around any more), the 18X program. I don't have the grids for the phase 1 points and wouldn't give them out if I had them.
Since Phase 1A is gone, I could give you the grids for the land nav points around Lindsey/Grenada/Owen that we used for our 18X studs. I don't know if the engineer stakes are still out there, but you might get a good workout trying to find some of them.
Message me in private and we'll talk.

I have a copy of the landnav course over on area J. I think there's 30 points listed on there, but could be wrong. If you keep hitting dry holes send me a PM, I'm sure I can get you a copy.

Old thread, but Division G3 is who has the key to the land nav course, all points on all lanes, etc. Used to have a copy, but that was a few years ago.

Land Navigation area J.

I’m about to start IAW and want to brush up on my land nav prior to starting. I found this thread and took the advice that was posted. Here’s what I was able to track down.

Yes the G3 does have the master Key for area J as well as grading sheets for day and night land nav. There are ten different lanes on area J each lane has six points for the day land nav and three points for the night land nav (if you abide by the grading sheets that come with the master key).

From there I went to the G2 Geo department (located in the same building) and got 1:50,000 maps for area J. Everyone there at the division building was very helpful and where willing to assist me in finding what I needed.

The only down side to this is the distances are rather short compared to the Hoffman course and the terrain is significantly easier to navigate. The longest distance is 790 meters between points on area J, it’s not that big of a deal if you have your own GPS and are willing to get a little creative.

I think everyone is in awe of your inability to find the land nav range to practice land nav.
