Same!

I was just thinking how much easier life is in Egypt.... Here in America we have Wall Street marketers "building brands" and tricking or cajoling us into desiring product 'X'.

In Egypt, the Panda tell thems what to do. No more product research or comparison shopping or finding the best price....just say yes to the Panda.

It's funny to me how Richard hasn't chimed in on this thread...after all we now see his "bully" side

I was thinking the same. I guess he should get some slack, now that we know how busy a Panda can be.

It seems the video is private, and hence I am unable to view it. Am I doing something wrong?

The cultural content of the commercial reflects, imho, the foundational element that underpins islamic social structure. Coerced obedience to product, or suffer the retaliation and punishment for exercising free will.
It would be of some interest to see what the marketing response in America would be employing the same TECHNIQUE in conditioning the populace.

This is an interesting question, though I wonder if "might makes right" commercials would be more prevalent in the Third World, especially Russia or China.

As for the States IMHO the response would be just as favorable if it was funny, humor can get away with anything. IIRC the Reebok " Terry Tate, Office Linebacker " commercials from a few years back were a big hit, and that car dealership who ran those " Trunk Monkey" ads is all over the internet.

Let's see if any of this sounds familar:

"...Are you shopping for a new car...STOP!...you're going to pay too much..."
"...we will NOT be undersold..."
"...lending rules have been relaxed for this sale..."

As for conditioning...how many products around your house are purchased because you grew up using them as a result of your parents purchasing practices?

Is your vehicle a direct result of your own market analysis, purchasing ability, and wants...or did you go with a bank to determine what you could afford...let marketing sway your decision...and allow your wife/significant other to chime in?

I just now returned from Israel this afternoon. Don't make me wake up the panda!

But as far as the commercials go, isn't that the point of advertising in a major brand marketing campaign - the so-called Ad Wars - to crush your competitor and dominate the market with your products?

I guess Madison Avenue has gone Muslim on us.

I was wondering when you were going to chime in...that has to be one of the funnier commercials I've seen.
