Aller Heillige

Once again it is the time of year when we gather in the Bad Toelz area and pay tribute to our fallen SF Brethren for Allerheiligen (01 Nov 10).

SFA LXV and V will lay wreaths on the graves of our fallen brothers on the 29th of Oct 10.

Meeting times and other details are currently being coordinated.

Weather permitting, we will place a wreath on Tony's cross on the Brauneck.

I believe that we will meet at the Jägerwirt in Gaissach.

Tony

Tony was the Sr. Medic on my team. I had my ski group eating lunch at the hutte all the way back on the Brauneck when Tony passed by with his instructor and other students just before the accident. Many of the other ski groups were also eating lunch at the time and because all of the transmissions were in the clear and most instructors had their radios sitting on tables, it seemed like everyone on the mountain to include the Germans knew there had been a fatality. It was a strange atmosphere on the Mountain as we began pulling everyone off. We had a Bn meeting that evening at Prinz Heinrich to discuss what happened. Next morning we went back out and continued training.

Today several active duty members of 1-10th SFG(A), and members of Special Forces Association Chapter LXV conducted the annual wreath laying for 29 Special Forces Brothers who are buried in the Bad Toelz area.

Its not too late to join me for the trip up the Brauneck. I'll even buy you lunch at the Idalhang or Tolzer Hutte.

Stras,

Thanks for doing that. I'll have to be there in spirit only.

No worries. You wouldn't happen to have the phone number for the Dive School? I'm getting a little old for jumping fences in my dress uniform. seems they were closed today, with no one on duty.

No, I lost those brain cells a long long time ago.

And it seems that NAS Key West has taken their phone directory off-line. try (305)293-4360, some google searching came up with that number, I suspect it'll be to the head shed though and not the staff duty office (which itself will only be manned if there are students on the compound)

Another option would be to call the base operator and ask for the number for the SFUWO staff duty, they might have it.

Good luck

Rich/Dragbag,

My apologies...

I meant the Tauchschule on Starnbergersee.

I found the number last night after about the 3rd Reutberg....

Honors were rendered on the Brauneck today for Tony.

Will get the last two locations in Muenchen on the way back to Stuttgart tomorrow.

BT,

Thanks for your help today.

I stopped by Prinz Heinrich Kaserne on the way back to Bad Toelz and took some photos of the now closed kaserne.

Will try and get photos uploaded this next week.
