Need AR15 advice

Gentlemen,

I'm looking into buying an AR15 from Oklahoma. I want a light sporting rifle that also has other capabilities for my HH6. I only know little about ARs, so I would like to ask your opinion. I'm more of a G36 man (own a SL8/G36 conversion)

This would be the deal:

BCM auto Bolt Carrier group
Vltor BCM mod 4 medium latch charging handle
Magpul triggerguard

Comes with US peacekeeper rifle case and 4 magpul maglevel Pmags.

Interesting that your buying it from a seller in Oklahoma. Are they hard to find in Munich? I was in a nice gunstore in Nuremburg last summer and they had several M-4s for sale. Kind of suprised me.

MM - It mostly comes down to price, convenience, and what your import requirements/restrictions are. The carbine you've listed is a standard varient with some nice(er) upgrades. (What handguards? Free-float or rail will significantly affect the price.) DelTon produces a decent rifle (in fact I visited them yesterday to get some parts for a couple of my carbines). Price it out on the DelTon website, then compare with something similar from DPMS, Bushmaster, or Rock River - MOO, I consider them to be peer products. Warranty service might be problematic from Germany but you shouldn't have any problems with the described carbine.

A friend of mine, LEO and FFL, is very close to there (Wichita, KS.). He can take care of the paperwork and ship to my German FFL who can do the documentation on this side of the pond. Did this before with some handguns and it works.

You have been over here MM, you know what the Germans charge. I'm crazy, but not that crazy. The OK. rifle goes for $750 with all the stuff listed. No transfer fee for me, since my friend is the KS. FFL. Shipping is $100 with FedEx, there is 19% import tax (to substitute the German Mehrwertsteuer) and about 4% customs. I have to spend another €100 over here for the FFL transfer, the WBK entry and the Beschussamt to get the rifle stamped.

If you look at the "nice" German gunstores, Frankonia, Kettner, but also the smaller ones like Arsenal, Blendinger and Rettinger, such a rifle starts at €1900 over here (that would be almost $2500). You do the math....

That's why Oklahoma and not Krautland.

Hit me on my .mil address and I'll hook you up with a guy in Stuttgart that is importing 80% finished lowers and then completing them there. FWIW he has done two AR-10s in the past couple of months.
