Obama Departs from Revised Policy, Links 'Radical Islam' to Terror Groups

He brings Clinton in on the economy, and now he is placating the American Public; a man of conviction with an election around the corner.

Obama can't win

He can't win--he is either a hypocrite here or a pussy on the other thread. He wasn't the one who began the delinking of terrorists and Islam. That was the previous administration. He has corrected their error. God Bless him.

I am beginning to wonder if the president has a pinwheel or dartboard in his office to decide the administration's policy of the day.

But maybe I'm being too harsh. It must be terrifically difficult to navigate through these trying times when one's political GPS is oriented towards the nearest reflective surface.

ALL the pinheads of BOTH parties use pinwheels. We are governed in the same way CEO's run most major corporations. CEO's make decisions based on short term measures so they can get their bonuses. Politicians govern for the short term because their bonuses are the next election. There are no long term plans or strategies. Well, one correction, the AEI boys had a plan they infiltrated the GOP with but it proved they are a bunch of total dumbasses.

AEI? I'm hoping it's the first one in the list.

Dad--

This comment is, IMO, interesting. MOO is that the private sector is enamored with the word 'strategy' but has little grasp of the concept. Consequently, company after company has "strategies", as do the component divisions, departments, and teams. This leads to an inability to focus on a single big picture, which leads, in turn to the dynamic you described.

I do respectfully disagree with you about the political side of it. IMO, the previous administration had a pretty good grasp of things when it came to grand strategy but was felled by poor attention to detail. By contrast, the current administration has compromised its strategic vision--which I think is flawed--through its devotion to 'pragmatism.'

YMMV.

Correct. The law enforcement agency I worked for had, with much pomp and fanfare, yearly Strategic Planning Meetings. We had an agency 5 year strategic plan. The goals and objectives were seldom achievable or even realistic given budget constraints and personnel shortages. They forged ahead nonetheless and published glossy pamphlets singing the praises of the PLAN.

The plan was revised whenever it became obvious the goals would not be reached. Then new glossy pamphlets spinning the new direction would be printed.
Then, before the 5 years were up, the administration would change.

Ahhhh...the old nebulous "5 Year Plan" concept sure brings back memories for us aging Cold Warriors.
