Damn Sir - I now dread my next ER page...one of my biggest fears, is being called to the ER.... to find a family member involved in a deadly MVA...

This should be shown in every high school in America, and then figure out a way to show it at every college in America.
Eye opening to say the least. Great post.

...also a reminder to be grateful for the medics, paramedics and EMT's that have signed up to respond to these incidents. They do great work in the field.

That was indeed, the best DD video I have ever seen. After a long battle with alcohol, I have been sober for 16 years. Many, many nights I drove drunk. Others (meaning anybody and everybody on the road with me) were lucky that I did not kill them. I am still beating myself up for drinking and driving, it helps keep me sober.
The good news is that 14 year old son, after hearing my stories and seeing how alcohol has affected other members of the extended family (I have drunk-in-laws) he hates alcohol and thinks that the drink and drugs are the root of all evil.

Great Video!!
Impressive video Richard!
Brings to mind the countless hours, mostly the wee hours, I've spent in the ER, ICU, and OR dealing with alcohol/substance mediated tragic events. These events always seemed to defy reason! Even more difficult to appreciate are the repeat events involving the same person under the influence.
The true picture of substance altered behavior includes domestic abuse, firearms "mishaps", assaults of all kinds, and a variety of pure criminal behavioral events. For each substance related event, DUI, DWI, assault, crime, there are hundreds of near misses. The economic toll is massive, as is the emotional toll. Each time a substance abuser uses, it affects no less than twenty people for starters.
While impressive as this video is, the power of addiction and abuse is such that little impact will be made on the user/abuser/addict. The best analogy I can think of is the idea that locks keep honest people honest.
FWIW, some of the most comfortable/peaceful people I have known, are those who have come to "grips" with a terminal illness, and those with a solid recovery program.
Be well Z06!!
