MMA fans?

I'm not happy with the UFC today, but, love MMA and have enjoyed watching it's evolution over the years. Here are compilation vids from youtube of the sport and some of it's best individual talents.

Probbly the best MMA vid. Furious Angels - Boondock

The MMA vid that started it all. MMA Desire - Robert Park

-------
Fedor Emelianenko
This guy is not only the greatest to ever live - he's still fighting - and he's also the best ambassador the sport has ever had.

Jon "Bones" Jones
Before I saw this Vid I was playing cards with Rashad Evans. He's an intelligent guy who is extremely competitive. To get under his skin - I said "Bones Jones is the future" - he said "I rolled with him"...
Stay nice man - this isn't the WWF - dispite what some want it to be.

Kazushi Sakuraba
Anyone who doesn't love Saku should. He's a natural 185er who faced many of the best 205ers the world had to offer (maybe they were on steroids - gee I couldn't tell).

Mark Hunt
Had the best "chin" ever - also super nice guy - he threw power ever time. Samoans are hard to KO apparently.

Ramon Dekkers
From the Netherlands and dominated Muay Thai in his weight class.

Genki Sudo
Almost the same intro as Saku.

-------

Great submission

Great come-from-behind KO

Cool vids I've seen most of them.

If you like MMA you should read A Fighters Heart it is a true story about a guy who travels the world learning different styles. To me it was pretty inspiring.

New book from the same author came out, "A Fighter's Mind."

Forrest Griffin's "Got Fight?" is also a good (hilarious) read.

I'm not boycotting but don't like that they promote fake trash talk hype.

Maybe it's just a reflection of what the majority of US fans want.

Josh Koscheck getting a title shot after faking injury and saying something worse than "momma insults" during the Daley fight, while other guys are fighting hard with broken bones and other injurys, sends the wrong message.

It's part of the market. They sell the blood, not the martial arts. The fireworks, the entrance music, the scantly-clad Octagon Girls (Arianny... <sigh>), it's part of the hype to get normal people, not martial art enthusiasts to watch. Besides, everyone's a wrestler out there now...

Unfortunately, the money is not with hardcorps MMA fans. They will watch no matter what and there just aren't that many now, relatively speaking. The money is with the casual fan, and that is why all the showmanship and excess by the UFC and Strikeforce.
