Chicago man shoots armed home invader
Dang it! The intended victim in the "gun free zone" decided to arm himself too.
80-Year-Old Chicago Man Kills Armed Home Invader
An 80-year-old Chicago man shot and killed an armed assailant who broke into his two-story house in a predawn home invasion Wednesday on the city's West Side...
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/05/26...-home-invader/
The people quoted in the article don't seem to be real concerned with the fact that this 80yr old man had a gun in a supposed "gun free zone"

At times like these...can only think of my Uncle(RIP), who, if the aforementioned happened on his property, would have had the same story printed about him,

Couldn't agree more....unfortunately this old sheepdog will probably get sued for killing the POS that broke into his home...I would love to hear that his pistol was a 1911 he brought back from Korea...wouldn't that be a great twist to this story....and it would give him that much more cover from the scumbags family who will likely come looking for $.

One woman who was interviewed (neighbor) said "This is what you do. Someone comes into your home, you kill 'em and that is that."
Supposedly while the man won't face any charges for the shooting and killing the perp there is talk of possible charges because he illegally possesses a handgun. And lucky for him that he did.
I'm sure he's happy to be judged by 12 instead of carried by 6.

If the Supreme Court makes their decision relatively soon, maybe it will be a moot point. Even if they don't decide soon, the ban will be found unconstitutional eventually.

Recent trends would indicate they will follow the same logic as in the DC ban.

I doubt too many DA's are going to be very agressive in prosecuting an 80 year old vet for a case where he was protecting himself/wife/community.
Slap on the wrist, maybe.

Even Dumbass Daley would recognize the potential negative backlash.

Because it would be really difficult for the majority in the Heller case to turn right around and say that the same individual rights afford to residents of DC don't apply to the states. It's not a 100% thing but it's probably as close as you are going to get considering some of the questions Kennedy (the most like of the five to vote against it) asked during the Heller hearings. IIRC during one of his questions he asked Alan Gura if he thought Heller logically would extend to the states. He was already starting down that path mentally even before they voted.
