New gunsight technology should improve accuracy for soldiers

New INL gunsight technology should improve accuracy for target shooters, hunters, soldiers

I've done several projects with Battelle (INL is operated by Battelle) in my career and have always been very impressed with them. What's your take?

When or where will you be able to purchase one. I wonder if they will make one for a pistol. Or do's your eye have to be up close to the sight, like a Scope?? In that case it wouldn't be practical for Handguns. It seems like it definitely solves the Focus problem you have with Iron Sights thou.

Apollo Optical Systems in Rochester has licensed the technology. They have the manufacturing technology to pull it off for a good MSRP. Depending on volume and integration issues, I'm guessing less than $100. No information I could find on time to market.

I've seen red-dot on competition pistols and this technology is considerably smaller, lighter and more rugged than that. The form factor, "smaller that a dime", still seems problematic for combat pistols, but we'll see what those clever lens people can pull off. Engineering some magnification into the lens is feasible. Think Fresnel lenses.
