What ridiculous criteria for qualifying . . . .
being "vicariously aware of the situation."
In the Navy, everyone is made to watch videos of the Enterprise and Forrestal carrier fires. I am now vicariously aware. Can I file a retroactive claim?

I have a guy in my shop doing just that right now....he always hurts his knee during a drill....and the drama is second to none. I finally told him to knock off his bullshit today. I had enough. I guarantee he will have a profile next month, because he is scheduled to take the PT test. What a loser.

Vets gaming the system? Nothing new there - the historical record of the post-Civil War claims once the government offered veterans and widows pensions is an amazing study in charlatanism.
And so it goes...

Then on the other hand, we have Vets who claims are accepted after they are dead and gone. AO is a good one. Malingers have always been around and they have cost time, money and credibility for Vets who need their claims to be accepted.
I read a article on the cost of false claims, in term of time, money and actual vets who needed their claims accepted.

I'm sure any form of gaming the system really torques those of you that have worked hard and accomplished much without a complaint.
But I have to say, if I was prioritizing, I would rather pay the vets whatever they wanted, no questions asked, and spend my time/resources elsewhere.....like chasing illegal immigrants and their kin, and getting welfare recipients off their asses.
At least the vets have served their country and have a greater value IMO than those who feel entitled to collect money for simply waking up each morning in America.

Some folks ain't doing NOT a damn thing over yonder. Can't be all that bad when PS3s, XBox, & Wii sales are pretty-damn-good.
Stick a tracking device in some folks ass and you'll see that they ain't traveled out of a mile radius (all on base) the entire time over here.
Stay safe.

Ok, ok, I get your point! Do we need to have a fundraiser over here to buy you some "Ass Trackers"? We'll get right on that....

Let me run this by if I may. The VA is wide open to anyone who ever served a damn day in the Reserve or Guard now.
