Hymn 365

A minister known for his fire and brimstone preaching was completing a temperance sermon to his congregation when, with great emphasis, he said, "If I had all the beer in the world...I'd take it and pour it into the river!"

With even greater emphasis he then said, "And if I had all the wine in the world...I'd take it and pour it into the river!"

And then finally, shaking his fist in the air and looking towards the ceiling, he shouted in a voice filled with the anger of rightous indignation, "And if I had all the whiskey in the world...I'd take that and pour it into the river, too!"

Finished and shaking from the efforts of his sermon, he sat down.

There was absolute silence in the church as the song leader stood very cautiously and announced, "For our closing song, let us sing hymn number 365...'Shall We Gather At The River.'"
