9mm Hydra Shok question

Despite googling my brains out, e mailing Federal and searching this site, I have been unable to find an answer to what I thought would be a pretty basic question...

Federal 147 grain 9mm Hydra Shok (not HI-Shock) comes in 2 variations, one is "civilian" with a product # P9HS2 and the other is Gov't / Restricted w/ a # P9HS2G.

Can anyone tell be what the heck the difference is????

Some stats I have seen show a higher velocity in the Gov't round, but i don't want to assume that is the only difference.

Looks to be Standard vs +P

Quote:
Federal 147 gr. Hydra-Shok JHP(P9HS2G)(Restricted/Government Issue)
HI: 1229 fps
LO: 1023 fps
AV: 1112 fps
ES: 206 fps
SD: 73.88 fps
n: 13 rnds
Comments: Advertised velocity is 1000 fps. Despite very high recoil impulse and high ES/SD values, this is still a very accurate load in the test gun, turning in sub-1" groups at 10m.

Federal 147 gr. Hydra-Shok JHP(P9HS2)
HI: 1021 fps
LO: 965 fps
AV: 993 fps
ES: 56 fps
SD: 12.24 fps
n: 70 rnds
Comments: Advertised velocity is 1000 fps.

our department used to issue the subsonic 147 grain Hydrashok

saw it used in one shooting, all three rounds performed perfectly

that said, I prefer the 124 grain +P Gold Dot for 9mm carry

Thanks

To both of you for the info. That is what I suspected, the first hand info is reassuring.
