I No Korean!
I was recently in Texas visiting my family, my aunt sent my father and I out for groceries including milk and coriander. Grocery stores are massive in TX, and the produce is in front. I told my dad you can grab the coriander, and I'll walk to the back to get milk. I returned to find my father with a tiny red faced asian produce clerk in his face emphatically repeating
" I No Korean!"
Apparently my father had grabbed a stalk of cilantro and being a guy innocently asked " Is this coriander". Perhaps something was lost in translation with his Oxford accent, and her Asian one. I would have guessed she was Chinese, and thus apparently quite offended someone would consider her a lowly Coriand....er um Korean. I managed to explain to her that vegetables not her lineage was our goal before she called security, and as a peace offering I bought some fresh basil she pointed to on sale. It's scary when I am the peacemaker.
I am convinced dear friends this is how WW3 will start, in Texas...
