taciturn
Don't know what taciturn means, this will give you a hint:
A young cowboy walks into a seedy cafe in Laramie,
Wyoming. He sits at the counter and notices an old
cowboy with his arms folded staring blankly at a full
bowl of chili. After fifteen minutes of just sitting
there staring at it, the young cowboy bravely asks the
old cowpoke, "If you ain't gonna eat that, mind if I
do?"
The older cowboy slowly turns his head toward the
young wrangler and in his best cowboy manner says,
"Nah, go ahead."
Eagerly, the young cowboy reaches over and slides the
bowl over to his place and starts spooning it in with
delight. He gets nearly down to the bottom and notices
a dead mouse in the chili. The sight was shocking and
he immediately pukes up the chili into the bowl.
The old cowboy quietly says, "Yep, that's as far as I
got, too.

Great. Now how am I supposed to enjoy that DFAC chili ever again?
Wait...it's Army chow, it's probably made with rodent meat. Never mind. Carry on.

I wouldn't joke about that too much with the cooks in my unit, it might be true knowning them. We have a standing belief here that the Cornish Game Hen might actually be Iraqi Game Pidgeon. Just sayin'.
The cooks in my unit have managed to cook scrambled eggs in such a fasion that they could be used as raquetballs. I've eaten better at a public school cafeteria than anywhere these guys cook.

You have Cornish Game Hen (or at least the appearance of one). Still better than some have it. Bet it tastes like chicken regardless.
Give me an MRE and send me on my way ... I'm just happy to have chow while in the field.

MREs are actually getting pretty good. I don't mind the chow, I've had worse [to include no chow], but when you hear rumors that you can eat better in SERE school than at the DFAC you have to stop and wonder about that.
