St. Louis Cardinals: "Helping the Cubs Lose Since 1908"
Twenty one major events that have occurred since the Chicago Cubs last laid claim to a World Series championship:
1. Radio was invented; Cubs fans got to hear their team lose.
2. TV was invented; Cubs fans got to see their team lose.
3. Baseball added 14 teams; Cubs fans get to see and hear their team lose to more clubs.
4. George Burns celebrated his 10th, 20th, 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th, 70th, 80th, 90th and 100th birthdays.
5. Haley's comet passed Earth twice.
7. The NBA, NHL and NFL were formed, and Chicago teams won championships in each league.
8. Man landed on the moon, as have several home runs given up by Cubs pitchers.
9. Sixteen U.S. presidents were elected.
10. There were 11 amendments added to the Constitution.
11. Prohibition was created and repealed.
12. The Titanic was built, set sail, sank, was discovered and became the subject of major motion pictures, the latest giving Cubs fans hope that something that finishes on the bottom can come out on top.
13. Wrigley Field was built and becomes the oldest park in the National League.
14. Flag poles were erected on Wrigley Field roof to hold all of the team's future World Series pennants. Those flag poles have since rusted and been taken down.
15. A combination of 40 Summer and Winter Olympics have been held.
16. Thirteen baseball players have won the Triple Crown; several thanked Cubs pitchers.
17. Countless hundreds of boys were born, played inept baseball for the cubs and died.
18. The Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, Boston Red Sox and the Florida Marlins have all won the World Series.
19. The Cubs played 14,153 regular-season games; they lost the majority of them.
20. Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Oklahoma and New Mexico were added to the Union.
21. Haray Caray was born, fired by the Cardinals, and died.
Big Teddy's Mom and Dad were born, got married, gave birth to Big Teddy. Big Teddy was born, got married, earned a Green Beret, stayed married for 51 years (and still going), retired, joined PS.com, saw his Saints Super Bowl prediction come true.

I'm bumping this thread in retaliation for Gypsy's meatless chili recipe!
Congratulations, to the Cardinals, QP Dozer523 and Cardinals fans everywhere.

Game 6 was the best baseball game I can remember. I am now going to go buy a Cardinals hat. Camoflague.

Winning the World Series does seem to 'go around' - hell, even the D-backs did it! However, it never seems to "come around" for the Cubbies!
I moved to AZ from S. Illiinois in '63. The Cubs ruled Spring Ball here in the Cactus League then... and still do, to a lesser extent. AZ is full of Cubs fans! Everyone would say, "You're from Illinois, so you must be a Cubs fan." No way... I grew up 75 miles SE of Saint Looie, Mizzouie... and am a die hard Cards fan.
Stan was and always WILL BE "The Man"!

I have no problem with Dozer's post, being a Cubs fan since I caught a HR ball when they beat the Dodgers in the LA Coliseum while Walter O'Money was waiting for his new stadium to be built. (Kids from 8 to 80: ALWAYS take your glove to the game.)
The fact is, for die-hard Cub Fans this is the most long-standing AND CIVIL rivalry in baseball. And I mean BASEBALL, not that other game with 10 people played by folks like the Texas Rangers...
In either home venue one will see a nearly equal mix of blue & red during the regular season. It's great, and both fans truly appreciate the game.
Besides, everyone from the Midwest knows that the team that is truly HATED by both is the Mets.
The bride & I rooted for the Cards big time in the series; again because they play baseball, not that game the interlopers from Arlington play.
Hey, 2012!
It might be, it could be....
added: A game at Wrigley is the only reason I would make an under-cloak-of-dawn ingress to the north side of the People's Socialist Enclave of Chicago.

True, true. We hope for them winning a World Series too . . . like we hope we win the Lotto. It's worth a buck.
