1950 Chevy w/437 actual miles

It seems like it would take some thoughtful maintenance to keep a car in working condition for that amount of time. I was skeptical and checked it out on snopes and nothing came up. I can't understand why the rubber wouldn't be rotted away, maybe being in darkness prevented that from happening.

a perfect Sunday afternoon
Finding a nice shady spot for your cool car (my "cool car" was my black, Alpha Romeo Graduate, rag-top) listening to tunes or the ball game and applying two coats of paste wax while MRFL worked on her tan.

I did not say, or mean to imply, original tires. That having been said, the 'Cuda and Eldorado had factory space saver tires in the trunk. The Dodge Royal Lancer was purchased by it's current owner in 1980 with the factory tires still on.
Lucas Tires, www.LucasClassicTires.com, and Coker Tires, www.COKERTIRE.com, market tires for classic imported and domestic autos from the 1900's, Model T's, etc, and up. Both may be able to provide some insight on just how long auto tires will last. Sunlight (UV rays) will degrade tires.

Mixed Emotions
While I appreciate the fact that we have here a wonderful example of American craftsmanship, an automotive piece of history, I'm sad that it was never driven, never taken to a high school football game, a drive-in movie with the GF, picnics with the kids, buddies at the lake, fishing poles and cold beer in the trunk.
It was never given to the next generation to run around town in on a Saturday night, never raced at a green light, never allowed to run down a lonely highway.
On the other hand, I wish it was mine.

sorry RF I wasn't clear, I snoped this concerning the 1950 Chevy..

How could air stay in tires for 59 years?

If GM started remaking these I'd sure buy one. Not sure where they'd get the US Steel, rubber, talent, etc. Also not sure where I'd come up with the $50k it'd probably cost.

Mine was a 1955,Crown Victoria, two tone pink and white with a see thru top..... I purchased it used when I got back from Germany in '59. My wife's was a 1975 White Corvette Stingray with a removable top..... I believe it was the last of the 425?or 475? engines they built for the Vet's........
