Red dot AK combo

I am thinking about mounting a Doctor Optic type site to an AK47 by replacing the rear site with a weaver rail and attaching the site to the rail. Does anyone have any experience with Samson Mfg?

I think the LaRue is a much better set-up.

Weaver actually made a mount like this several years ago. The problem was it only used the hole for the ordinal site and a set screw that put pressure on the gas block and was not real stable.

You might want to look at one of the newer replacements for the forearm.

I have a UTG unit that replaces both parts of the fore grip, but not the gas tube,,,

And a Ultimak that replaces the upper guard and gas tube.. This one allows co-witnessing of the stock sight.

Both work well,, but you still need cooking mittens,, AK's get hot...

Might also save you some money as I paid about 1/2 the price of the Samson model.

PS: ++1 LaRue,, they make great gear..

I've got the Ultimak. It's OK but I'm eventually getting the LaRue. MOO - I think it's a much better solution given the characteristics and uses of the AK.

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.
