East Coast Storm
Well it has been coming down since last night....for those of you out in the real snow-zones this isn't much, but for a bunch of coastal flatlanders this is going to be interesting. It's been coming down steady and wind gusts are up to 30+ kts thus far. Forecast calls for this to continue on into early Sunday A.M.
Thankful right now that it started on a Friday night and I can spend the day looking out the back while it comes down. Knowing that I don't have to go anywhere.....
With the Christmas tree lit and music playing in the background it all fits very nicely.
Peace,
R10

Beautiful view, sounds like a lovely day.
As long as I don't have to go anywhere, I love when it snows...

But really, It's cool sitting here playing radio, watching the news, listening to the EOCs, might have to head out later to help out a retirement home near by.
11 " here as of noon, but that's 11 inches of hell for a lot of SUV drivers, that can not drive.. Yeh you know it, its always the other guy!!!!
AL
PS the low staled , looks like we could get 24" before this is called. COOLLL!!!

Don't forget to send pics to Copenhagen.

My family is stuck in the minivan trying to get through Alexandria to NJ today.
I am holding down the house. As long as they make it there safely, I will be glad to have done this part of the job.
Hope 95 in MD is better than it is in the DC area.

The DC airports are essentially closed. Andrews had to be plowed for Obama to land. Global warming indeed.

Wish them luck for me. Sometimes it's just best to pull off at a Hotel with a bar and an in ground pool.
But I think the weather is lifting off to the N/E. Major roads should be cleaned pretty quick.

Trust me, they're there and there and there. He will have enough support team to get around. Like him or not, the great corps of AF men and women will get the President where he needs to be.

I suspect that it will be the Marines getting him home from Andrews.

Rgr that sir.
It's all encompassing minus the Coasties. They are busy busting waves and chasing deer at PAX River.

But it's Saturday...
Hardly any of the civilian support guys travel on AF1 but actually go via other means including COMAIR. With Dulles & BWI closed, my buddies are stuck in Denmark & Germany. I feel SSSSOOOO sorry for them too.

Not any better up in MD. Storm is hitting hardest right up the western shore of the Bay and the 93 corridor.
Hope the family found a place to R.O.N....or is moving carefully. We are up to 18+ and coming down steady. The Blizzard warning lifted at 1730 local time. Slow and easy.
A good place to do a virtual assessment is here

Not so good here in the Shen. Valley. Wife off to UVA Med Center this AM ,pushing snow well over the bumper of my F-150. Dug out a path for my girls to get to the back yard, even my Huskey waited patiently. Blew a hydraulic line to the front end loader on my Kubota as I tried dig out the driveway...really made no difference...have yet to see a snow plow.
I am 6'2" and have snow to mid thigh. There is fog freezing on Afton Mtn, I-64, and my wife just called to see if it was safe to drive home in MY F-150...she did not like the answer.
So.....I've got nearly 4' of snow, freezing fog, a pissed wife, and a broken plow; life could be worse....nobody is shooting at me. I have shelter, food, power, a wife in a safe place, four dogs that celebrate when I come back from the mailbox, and PS.com.

I'm with you....
My biggest worry is clearing out the wall of ice/snow at the end of the driveway when (and if) the county runs the front end loader down the cul-de-sac.
My wife brought home a few bottles of Nurnberger Markt Gluhwein on Friday so we are making a dent in those and watching the snow pile up.
Got a runway shoveled for the dog and room enought to launch the SUV down the driveway.
