Did anyone catch the fight last Saturday? My opinion from the moment the match was announced was that Floyd was picking another safe fight. The man is an excellent boxer but he just will not risk his chance with any of the top contenders.
It was not surprising to see he came in overweight at 146 (Marquez was at 142) and refused to be weighed at an unofficial weigh in. With more weight, height, and reach then Marquez I have to say nothing was looking in Juan's favor. To top

In the first round it became quickly evident that Marquez was outclassed by Mayweather's speed and boxing skill. Marquez scored remarkably lower in landed hits and threw more punches then Mayweather did while Floyd almost always landed. In the second round Marquez was knocked down by a solid punch to the right side of his head. He seemed to have never recuperated later in the fight and looked to be having difficulty staying on his feet. Time after time Floyd landed impressive hits on Marquez, while Juan could not do the same. After 12 rounds the Judges gave a unanimous decision favoring Mayweather.

Probably the most exciting part of the night was the interview right after. Max Kellerman went right for the throat pushing the weight issue, his selection of Marquez over Pacquiao, and then mentioning a possible Shane Mosley fight. In true Mayweather fashion Floyd dodged the questions. An eager Shane Mosley stepped into the ring at the mention of his name, shook hands with Mayweather, and spoke into the microphone: "We just want to get it on, this is the fans want to see a great fight now lets do it."

Mayweather took offense to being interuppted to the interview and the two began arguing. Max Kellermen tried to calm things down but couldn't do much for the situation so he mentioned Pacquiao and Floyd lost it. Grabbed the mic, told Max he talked too much, and was promptly cut off.

I have to say the prospect for a Shane Mosley vs Floyd Mayweather fight is what I was hoping for when he came out of retirement (originally it was Miguel Cotto but I think his controversial loss to Margacheato had mentally affected his confidence and training...if his fight with Clottey was any indicator of his current shape then I can't expect any good things from the Pacquiao fight November 14th).

Like everyone else, I watched UFC 8000. Dana White of UFC said it best:

"Boxing is doing it to you again. They're giving you the fight that you don't want. Nobody asked for this fight with Mayweather and ... what's his name? What's his name? Nobody even knows. Nobody in this room even knows who Floyd's fighting".

He's right. Untill Mayweather fights Pacquaio, then I have no interest in boxing.

OK. OK. Maybe Mosely might be somewhat interesting.

Puertoland, I totally agree with your assessment. After watching the prefight run up and noticing the arrogance from Floyd, I naturally rooted for the underdog. The match WAS lopsided, and the venue, announcers, and probably even the advertisers all favored Floyd. Memories of Don King were rolling through my head as the fight ran it's course. I credit Marquez though, he pressed and pressed all fight long. Personally I think he won the first round in the very least.

The best part of the night was during the interview after the fight when Floyd was asked about his being overwieght. His response was custom fit for lack of character: "Thats all in the past, I want to talk about my Victory."

Luckily I didn't purchase this fight at home.

Why didn't I watch UFC? Well, then I would have had to go round and round with my girlfriend, and she has a killer left right combo,,,,,,

I watched it. Mayweather was just too big and fast. Given his continuing IRS troubles I think he might now finally stop ducking Manny Pacquiao, the only fighter with the power and speed to beat him. Mosley is over the hill.

Marquez is an excellent fighter but should stick to lightweight division in my opinion. He still retains his belt and respect as a fighter and has not truly lost anything. It is Mayweather who is starting to lose respect. His arguments over why he chooses his fights and his running out of excuses will catch up with him until he has no choice to fight an actual worthy adversary.

I would love to see a Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight as much as anybody (right there after Mayweather-Cotto

) but feel that unless he loses to Cotto this November, he'll keep the excuses coming. Floyd gets nervous at the sight of anybody who looks as invincible as Pacman right now.

In my opinion, Mayweather has no excuse to dodge a Mosley match up any longer. Cotto/Pacquiao are tied up with their match up and Mosley has personally called him out. Seeing as how he is not the fighter he once was (but still in the top five in my humble opinion) I think Mayweather just might take the fight.

pacman would put up a great fight. mosley would too and so would cotto...all three of them are to risky for mayweather and it will probably never happen. A lot of my friends who box would like to see paul williams fight mayweather but we know that will never happen either hes a freak of nature.

For all the smack he has talked, I want to see this d-bag get into the ring with Uriah Faber or Mike Brown. Or if he is feeling froggy and he wants to go to 155 let him fight BJ or KenFlo. I am a huge MMA fan but I still have a great deal of respect for boxing. Mayweather needs to put up or shut up. Even his fans will catch on to his BS sooner or later.
