This is the fundamental problem with quiet, dignified protests - no one notices. Compare the attention that ACORN and other such groups garner with their actions to that of more polite approaches. Consider which side wins publicity and money - as well as recruits for their cause.

Rep. Wilson, despite the apology, accomplished far more with his action than did Rep. Shimkus.

If one side has a winning tactic, it seems to me the other side should either adopt that tactic, or find one that is more effective. Conservatives do not appear to have implemented such thinking.
