It's hard to come by around my area also. I found some range rounds at Walmart a couple of weeks ago. Just purchased a Ruger LCP and I need to get out and shoot the darn thing. I was informed the other day that it now belongs to my wife and I'll have to go out and buy another one as a backup piece.

Try this link for locating ammo online.

Has worked for me, but .380 like almost all handgun ammo, is hard to find. Good luck!

20rd boxes of .380 Hornaday JHP Critical Defense have been showing up in my area... but that's it.

I'm on the wait list for the Ruger LCP but would like to see the new Taurus .380. Anyone seen the Taurus? I have two Taurus revolvers in .22 and .38 Spl and like them.

Check out the LCP Forum for leads on available LCPs.

I have a Bersa .380 that shoots well. But, I've recently been drawn back to the .38 Special as a better round for stopping power, variety of loads, penetration, and ammo availability.

Yesterday I was offered a Ruger LCP in one gun shop but thought the price tag was higher than it should be. On the way home I was called by another gun shop and offered the LCP $50 cheaper! Picking it up tomorrow morning.

reloading anyone?
not to be a smartass or anything (ahem) but this is a strong argument for learning to reload. I just reloaded 1000 rds of .380 ACP.....and boy is my arm tired!

Question
What would you take in trade for 1000 rounds of 1911 .45ACP?
Needing a hook up.

from what i've been told, the manufacturers slowed .380 production in order to quicken the 9mm production which was a higher demand item.
I haven't gotten to the point where I'm reloading .380 yet, but foresee it in the near future.

The calculus of scheduling in a mass production situation are sometimes not obvious. In the productions lines I am familiar with, the same production lines are used for 9mm and .380. Switching from one to another requires tooling changes, setup and adjustments to bring the quality level required. No production, no product and no profit are the consequence of using the same line for multiple products.
So the calculation of when to change product take into account not only orders booked, but also time to change the line over to a different product, consequences of annoying particular customers, penalties for late delivery and the clout of the respective product managers.
Sitting in the marketing meetings to sort out these issues was not one of the parts of a previous job that I enjoyed. (Not ammo, but similar production issues).

I swear...
The cost of ammo is becoming equal to a pound of gold. I think I'll take my grandfather's Hawkins' .50 cal down above the fireplace. Or maybe I can start throwing rocks!
Remember when the Afghanistan Army 1978 had the long rifles left over from the Ming Dynasty, China, circa 1200AD? o.k., that was a stretch, but you get my point.
