Orientation Day at SWCS

Last thursday newcomers at SWCS were able to tour some of the training facilities that the 18 series goes to to establish and advance their skills to become a green beret.

I must say, one of the most interesting and satisfying days of my life.
Surely just touring around an isolated compound might be boring once you work there every day or have seen it a few times. But according to some people, McKall has changed.

Just being there and seeing selectees going about their business, knowing that some of them will some day be QP's is quite something, at least in my eyes.

The highlight was seeing a good assortment of weapons, domestic as well as foreign, and being able to hold them and looking through the sights.
That also made me think that there is so much going on behind the scenes that makes everything work, that you won't necessarily see every day. There is so much involved to give an 18 series training and experiences later on needed.

I must say though, those blue bird buses are not gentle on your back...
