Over 50 CMOH recipients to gather in Chicago

This truly will be a humbling event and I for one intend to be there.

More than 50 of the 95 living Congressional Medal of Honor recipients will visit Cantigny on Saturday, Sept. 19.

Recipients of the nation's highest military honor will take part in a ceremony at 1:30pm in honor of National POW/MIA Recognition Day. The public is invited, and the US Army Chorus will perform.

On Monday Sept 1, the Robert R. McCormick Museum will unveil a special exhibit on the MOH awarded to McCormicks' father-in-law, Dr. Bernard John Dowling Irwin. Irwin received his medal in 1893 for action in the American west on the eve of the Civil War.

The First Division Museum also will host a program and book signing at 7:30 pm Sept 2 with medal recipient Allen J. Lynch and photographer Nick Del Calzo. Lynch will speak about his experiences, and Del Calzo will discuss the making of the "Medal of Honor: Portrats of Valor Beyond the Call of Duty".

Admission and parking are free. For information visit Cantigny.org and FirstDivisionMuseum.org

Back in the 80s Chicago had a huge parade for VN vets. A good time.

My buddy and me went looking for t shirts at the vendor hotel.

We got off at the wrong floor and landed in the reception area for the national MOH society annual dinner.

There was way over a hundred of them milling about with their wives.

Quite a site to behold.
