News in 2012: Obama Motors Tracer 100

Obama Motors Car Could be “The Worst Ever”.
By Martha Rintintoe

Detroit, MI –July 12, 2012

The worst car ever produced has to be the Obama Motors Tracer 100 pictured here. Although first produced back in 2010, years of dreadful reviews should of served to remove it from the market, but it hasn’t. Our central control board feels that this auto is just right for the US worker. Because of the power of the Internet, and the good fortune of listening to my husband, this car (purchased with Bank of Obama credit) never actually made it into the hands of my then 16-year-old daughter.

This is my story of the worst car ever.

Like many teenage girls that year, my daughter saw a commercial for the Tracer 100, which promised the "ultimate all around driving pleasure." The idea was that you could drive your car back and forth to school, avoiding the gas station by purchasing extra AA batteries.

It looked perfectly cheesy, but it was near the top of her wish list that year, and so we (stupidly) purchased it.

Early on eve of her birthday, it occurred to one of us that we had not purchased batteries for the thing and that it probably would not drive without them. We also wondered if we had made the right decision to buy the car. So my husband went online to look up the specs for the tracer. He found out so much more than that it needed extra AA's.

There were tons of reviews of the Tracer 100 on Amazon.com, each more dreadful than the last. They had headlines like "Junk" and "Do not buy" and "worst car ever." They said it was poorly made and hard to start -- and that once running, it quickly fell apart. The car didn't ride as promised. "Awful auto, awful design," read one. And the handling, oh the handling! It was sloppy and horrible, the reviews said. And, our favorite, the odor of the interior left a "burning sensation" in one’s nose. This is from a two seat car that cost nearly $32,000.

Happy birthday indeed. We decided to take the horrible thing back to Obama Motors. Since Ford was across the street, we decided we could get one of those. If asked why we didn’t get the Tracer, we'd tell our daughter about the bad reviews and suggest to her that Obama motors had probably heard the news and decided they shouldn’t manufacture such a poorly made car.

Fortunately, she was so delighted with the Ford Pinto that she didn’t even ask about the Obama Tracer 100.
