TRUE BELIEVER - NEW OFFICER / CROSS THREADS
So I was Middle Tennessee State University, at the R.O.T.C. Department, when I spot a Bulletin Board labeled "RANGER CHALLENGE." So of course I had to check it out. It was for R.O.T.C. cadets who want to engage extra PT, and learn "Ranger-like" skills of rope bridges, rappelling, and playing with high explosives and automatic weapons. A page front and center caught my eye.
Yes, it was the "True Believer" quote, proudly displayed and without attribution to our own NDD.
I had a talk to the NCOIC of the "Ranger Challenge" and he promised a correction.
===
Now as for why I was at the R.O.T.C. Building ....
That was to pin a gold bar on my daughter, one of the Army's newest newest Second Lieutenants.
Yes, she is beautiful, yes, she IS engaged, and her finance (1LT) is in Iraq so I will climb out of your computer screen and pummel you if you even think any impure thoughts.
The soldier to the left is my (civilian) boss, COL Roger Nell (USAR) who just returned from a one year tour as the Command Staff Judge Advocate in Bagram. He administered the oath.
College graduation was the next day.
(Uh, I am on the right, hair is a bit gray, but I can still fit into my greens from my last tour on active duty).

Congratulations!
You could have tried to look a little prouder, though.

CSB,
Congrats to your daughter.
Thank you for seeing NDD's quote.
And also Thank you for making sure the gentlemen involved with the "True Believer" quote will make the correct attribution...
...soon.

Congratulations Sir, you are truly blessed. Is this the first of your off-spring to take the oath?

New 2LT
Thank you for the kind greetings.
She has said "no thank you" to Airborne, besides, she is a tiny featherweight. Don't you notice how the 1st Cav horse blanket goes halfway down her sleeve?
I don't think there is a canopy small enough for her. On a Hollywood jump under a T-10 or an MC1-1 she would drift about three zip codes off the drop zone.
