Oh, almost forgot, when burgers get that kind of play in the city;its really a comment on the state of the economy.

Damn Richard - I miss Kincaids... standing in line is part of the fun of getting one of those creations... Kind of a long drive for you to get to West Fort Worth isn't it?
There is truly only ONE Kincaids - The Camp Bowie location... the old market - there's lots of stuff on the shelves that's covered in dust.... from the 50's...

In N Out are tasty, the fries are fabulous....I love how they cut and fry them right in front of you.
My favorite burger is from a little joint in La Grange, IL... The Country House. Yummmm.

My favorite topic.
In-n-Out makes a tasty burger...I used to eat at the place on Bristol in Costa Mesa and then go to an Angels game.
Around the Beltway, Five Guys have a great reputation and make great burgers, but their fries are undercooked and limp. They have a stand at Reagan airport and don't jack up the price as most eating places do in airports. It's a good $5 burger with 2 patties, but no milk shakes on the menu.
Yesterday I had a good 3-cheese burger at Glory Days, $5 with fries.
The bun is very important and has to stay firm and not fall apart. Grilled with butter is best.
Why are fries now so thin and limp? I long for the olden days when thick fries were cooked in good old lard and had flavor. My heart and circulatory system are fine so maybe one day I'll buy a can of lard and cook some real fries.
If I pay more than $10 for a burger it had better have a t-bone in it.

Richard, Kincaids (Camp Bowie) +2. Must be healthy food there.
My son was raised on those burgers. He's now 13 yo, ~6 feet and 145 pounds.
I liked the old Goff's on Lovers better, especially when Harvey Goff (real name Gough) used to verbally abuse some of the customers.

I've eaten there a couple of times when out in CA on ranch business - too much like McDondald's - I don't do chains as they can't compare to a Mom & Pop burger stand IMO - same with hotdogs in Chicago - I look for those little hole-in-the-wall stands with character and great eats.
Now Roosters in Elk Grove (south of Sacramento) makes some might fine burgers!

Harvey is a character - I went in a couple of times wearing my SF 50th Anniversary hat and tried to goad him into sparring with me - he wouldn't take the bait and mixed it up with a few others - he loved haranguing the Highland Park trust-fund babies (high school, college crowd) and their parents - and I agree with the old Lovers Lane location.

I could not agree more. "Corporate" food sucks. I hate eating in those places.
Most individuals hate working in "Corporate" restaurants and that is evident with the quality of the food and lack of good service.
I'd much rather spend my money on those that stake their reputation on their food and service.
I'll eat in a mom & pop's restaurant anytime.

Being somewhat of a hamburer connoisseur I too agree with eating at mom and pop joints vs. corporate hamburger restaurants although they are sometimes a hit and miss. I recently had the pleasure of eating a Kobe burger and to quote Jules Winnfield, it was one "tastey burger". Too bad the price is so high so I can only have one when I have some extra mad money kicking around.
