I hear that the Reeves did very well, gaining several awards, as usual.

No arrest reports on the rest received yet though.

Before I mention anything about Chris Reeve there is something that may interest the Special Forces community.

Blade Show is the largest knife show in the knife business world.
This is where the annual Blade Awards are announced but there is always one other award that is featured ahead of all others and it is when one member of the industry is inducted into the Cutlery Hall of Fame. This is a serious recognition of extraordinary achievement in the world of knives.

This year Al Mar was named into Blades Hall of Fame.

The speech explaining and highlighting Al Mars achievements as both a member of the United States Army Special Forces and as the father of specialty cutlery was given by Sal Glesser (founder of Spyderco Knives). Sal was a good friend of Al Mars.
Accepting the award on behalf of the late Al Mar was his daughter RyAnne.
It's about time the industry got it right.

Al Mar was further honored by Chris Reeve when Chris won the "Highest Quality Manufacturer" for the 9th time. Chris talked about the influence Al had on his making knives and paid Al his deepest respects.
Chris then had to walk up to the stage one more time to accept the award for "Best Kitchen Knife". This is for the new series of kitchen cutlery that he is doing in the CRK shop.

Al Mar is the first Quiet Professional (that I know of) introduced into the Cutlery Hall of Fame. Col. Rex Applegate is already there but he was with the OSS. Applegate and Mar were also good friends and it was Al who introduced me to Rex Applegate way back in 1984.

Wish I could have been there this year, but I was picking up my free Harsey knife. Glad to Hear Chris did well, his products are exquisite.

Bill- I used your D2 for the last field excercise... flawless and much admired by my peers.

I'm very happy to hear my old 'team mate' Al Mar was given that honor! Al was a good friend of mine and I have a number of his knives, which he always put a few extra goodies on for free. Rest easy Brother!

I think Mr Harsey will forgive your absence for that reason...

Imho, way too long in coming, but made my heart feel good that Al Mar finally got recognized in this fashion.

Nice "visiting" with you, Bill. We still didn't have enough time.
