Krispy Kreme
I recall my first interaction with a Krispy Kreme doughnut. Being a Yankee by birth I had not laid eyes on one until arriving at Fort Benning. Of course they weren't for eatin'....they were just fer lookin' at.
So as the article states....If Krispy Kreme can block a sewer pipe, what is it doing inside of you????
Krispy Kreme Blamed For Clogging Sewer
Friday, May 29, 2009
John Patti and Associated Press
Fairfax County officials are blaming Krispy Kreme doughnuts for clogging more than just arteries.
The county says the company has damaged its sewer system by dumping yeast and grease from its Lorton plant. Officials filed a lawsuit this month after the company refused to pay a $1.9 million bill for repairs to the system.
The lawsuit says the damage was caused by "excessive quantities of highly corrosive wastes, doughnut grease and other pollutants." The suit says clogged pipes resulted in raw sewage leaks that shut down the southern Fairfax sewer system.
The county says its workers once ran a closed-circuit camera inside a pipe to show the grease deposits, but the camera got stuck in the goop.
Krispy Kreme says the charges are unfounded.

LOL! Being from the mid-west, I never had heard of, much less tasted one, til I moved to CA. But, I must say that the memory of my first KK's was at Dodger's Stadium, in '99! It was a round glazed, hard on the outside, juicy on the inside, and bursted with flavor once bitten! Indeed, very delicious to taste!

Though now in bad decline (something has changed in the recipe), few things beat Krispy Kreme glazed doughnuts.
I did question the company's expansion plans, especially after seeing a Krispy Kreme up the street from the Cafe du Monde in NOLA in spring 2004.

Ahhh, music to my ears..."Beignets" at this Cafe' are someting to be sought after, IMHO....Just sitting at the historical venue, with coffee can bring on a flash flood of good times!

When they ran the story on the ABC affiliate a few years back, I forced myself not to remember the name of the hamburger stand out here that uses glazed Krispy Kremes as buns on their bacon cheese burgers.
I think Dodger Stadium should sell a Dodger Dog that has Krispy Kremes stacked around it, like donuts on a baseball bat.

O' Lord, Im reading this and I can hear my arteries starting to clog.
Since my (as they call it now) Cardio "event" a few years back Ive done away with all such things. This is NOT to say I dont lust after it on a daily basis though.

This Dodger Dog idea finds its roots in the Pizza Pup sold at Fedco back in the 1970s: a slice of thin crust pizza wrapped around a hot dog and then baked.
Then there's the Okie Dog. Two hot dogs, chili, cheese, and pastrami wrapped in a flour tortilla.

Did you get your training with the North Vietnamese, at the Soviet Gulags or just something you picked up at Gitmo.
That was pure torture! You have any idea the difficulty involved in eating "healthy" foods.

As Maxwell Smart would say "Sorry about that, Chief."
FWIW, I had to give up the Okie dogs about twenty years ago. I hardly ever eat Krispy Kremes or hot dogs. I no longer baste steaks with melted butter. I rarely eat rice anymore and when I do it is brown.
I gave up fries and chips for 2009 and I am grumpy almost always for making that choice.

I'd go here for coffee and doughnuts - I'd never notice what they tasted like...and I wouldn't care.

Ditto that..
Stopped by yesterday two warm glazed and a pint bottle of white whole milk.
In college we would go out drinking and end up at the KK store watching them pop out of the deep grease, then roll thru the glaze. Waittress would take them right off the line for us. Fresh, soft, warm. with the glaze barely dry.

I will drive 20 miles if the "Hot Now" light is on.
Y'all know what I mean.
