IS THIS A GOOD IDEA??

Hey guys, i was meeting with my recruiter yesterday and we were talking bout me taking the 11Bravo contract over the 18X. How it might benefit me more if i had more experience under my belt and then try out for Special Forces later on. I would love to fight with the best of the best, and do my part for my country, but i want to make sure i am capable of doing all that my fellow soldiers expect from me, and to the best of my abilites. So my question is would it be a better idea for me to take the 11B and get some experience and then try out for Special Forces or take the 18x and go that route. Thanks for any help i can get.

IMO, 18X is great if your 25yo and have some real life experience. At your age, go RIP. A few yrs in the Regt. will make you appreciate SF that much more. And yeah, I tell all the young guys this.

If you fail, or quit, you'll just end up at an airborne infantry unit anyway. 18X is the route I took, so I won't tell you either way -- I personally couldn't be happier with the path I chose, but it sure as hell wasn't easy.

Also, there is a degree of stigma associated with being an 18X. It takes a while to shake once you get to your team, but you are your own man and only you can prove yourself. Just be sure you know what you're getting into if you do decide to go the X-ray route.

If you are having some doubts then 18X is not the place for you. If you are self defeating there is no need to waist the governments time and money.

The 18X is designed to fill a manpower requirement, and will produce whaat is needed to meet those. I'm not discussing Good or bad here only that the program take youg guys of the street and brings them up to the minimum standard for SF duty. There is no program the cycles one through the infantry and then to SF.
So either go 18X or go 11B. Blitzzz

This horse has been beaten to death here, and is the second time you have been warned about asking for help before trying to help yourself..

You need to use the Search button and do some reading before posting again.

To recap, your recruiter's goals and yours may have some overlap, but are not identical. His job is to provide initial entry soldiers IAW the Army's strength and skill needs. Your desires are way down his list as long as he can get you into a contract and off to Basic. And if you have to seek affirmation on the internet, he is probably right and you are not ready for SF.

If you post another question that you could have easily found the answer for yourself, you will not be warned again.
