The President is....
The President is keeping score.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123862834153780427.html
All Presidents have had some form of "Machine" working for them.
What worries me is the close ties between the White House, Acorn type groups and the MSM.
Can the "opposition" be shut down?

Interesting to note the author of this piece. I sent it to a couple of my more liberal minded friends - including my NPR spouting oldest son who lives in Marin County, CA - and am patiently awaiting their outright dismissal of what the article says because of who wrote it. And then the debate will begin.

From the article:
Alinsky's 1971 book, "Rules for Radicals," is a favorite of the Obamas. Michele Obama quoted it at the Democratic Convention. One Alinsky tactic is to "Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it." That's what the White House did in targeting Rush Limbaugh, Rick Santelli and Jim Cramer. (The president's press secretary, Robert Gibbs, went so far as to lash all three from the White House press podium.) It may also explain Mr. Obama's comments to Mr. DeFazio.
Once, years ago, I read that the U.S. took Germany's WWII blitzkrieg tactics, improved upon them, and used them to win.
It seems to me that if we wish to defeat the left, we have to do the same thing - study their tactics, improve them, and win.
The only problem I see in that is that the left seems inclined toward group actions, whereas the rest of us are (IMO) of a more independent nature.

Don't forget, the Left has many more allies and fellow travelers in the MSM who parrot, amplify, and expound upon their spoutings, yet when the same type of tactic is used by someone on the Right, that person is villified, marginalized, and ostracized. Compare the MSM reaction to comments of Keith Obermann vs. those of Ann Coulter.

So basically, you're proposing a massive campaign to train America's youth for critical thought, and indoctrinate them with personal responsibility, a love of liberty, and a willingness to work and accept risk for what they believe?
Sounds good to me. Also sounds familiar - wasn't there another thread on this topic a few months back?
As for group vs independent nature: maybe that dictates a "grassroots movement" against "the system" (role reversal, if you believe the shrillness of the '60s). Almost sounds like an unconventional, even guerrilla approach. Maybe we can find a website full of people who know something about that.
Independent nature should be more of a strength than a liability. Take advantage of the resulting diverse and creative approaches, if the individual "lessons learned" can be disseminated and applied. It's why capitalism outstrips a planned economy, right?
