March Madness

This is the one time of year I pay any attention to basketball. I've filled out a few brackets, one of which I have UW Huskies and Gonzaga both going to the Final Four Both are local favorites and could end up facing each other in the Finals, however unlikely.

I think Pitt will win it all in the end.

Who are your favorites?

Maryland picked up a quality win over CA yesterday. Looked good and really broke their rhythm up. We will see how Saturday goes against Memphis.

I'm just enjoying college basketball on CBS for the first time in decades--no more Billy Packer.

Finals = Arizona State vs. Arizona

Champion = ASU Sun Devils
(Who will erase the 'bad juju' they got put on them many years ago for the disgraceful way the university dismissed Ned Wulk. Herb Sendek is a genius. And, don't forget, the UofA Wildcats are in the tourney thanks to the brilliant interim coach they have - a former ASU assistant coach!)

You say it can't happen??? Oh yeah, well all I can say is this: Arizona Cardinals not only IN the SuperBowl, but almost won it! Anything can happen!

As a card carrying Zag with a sheepskin to prove it, I'd like to be as optimistic as you. Unfortunately, we drew the same bracket as UNC, who look pretty damned good right now.

After the first round, I was ranked 267 on Yahoo with 29 of 32 picks right. Unfortunately Wake Forest screwed me over as I had them going to the Final Four after beating Louisville in the Great 8. Ooops.

Go Zags!

MU

MIZ ZOU RAH
11 MU players were on the court and 9 scored. Not bad for a team the conference coaches voted 6th place prior to the season. What really makes it nice is Mike Anderson just doesn't just belong to that fraternity of really good coaches, but he is a truly fine man and demands the same of his players.

Now as for beating U Conn Sat, damn they're good. Either way, I will be proud Mizzou fan.

MIZZOU is truly a team, not just a superstar or two with supporting cast. Glad to see them playing to the level they did back when Sunvold and Stipanovich played.

Ditto on Anderson. He is not only developing them as BB players, but as men.

Oh come mon! Pete. Whadda spect from a North Carolina paper?
This is catholic school, as Elwood Blue's would say "We're on a mission from Gawd."
Note to all Catholics: This is a JESUIT school so ask yourself, What Would Jesus Do?" (cheer on the Zags and drink lots of beer! see you at Jack and Dan's -- I wish)

D--

Unless the Zags are going to suit up Turiaf (former Laker), Morrison (current Laker), and Stockton (Laker arch nemisis), they're going to face an uphill climb tonight. (It looks like I'm stuck with the Arizona game out here.)
