Military salute now proper during the National Anthem........

The Winter 2009 issue of "The Salute" a publication for Army veterans, reported on a new privilege allowed veterans and service members who are not in uniform. Thanks to an amendment sponsored by Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla.,to the Defense Authorization Act for 2009, "members of the Armed Forces and veterans who are present but not in uniform may render the military salute" during the playing of the National Anthem and "the hoisting, lowering, and passing of the flag". The salute is a form of honor and respect, representing the military service. I don't believe this is widely known by our vets and service members...........

I think Oklahoma is not OK if their Senator is spending time on this while Rome burns (I'm beginning to wish) and the citizens are fed snippets of 'feelgoodies' which cost nothing and distract them from the dubious legislation being pushed through without their majority input or consensus. Personally, I don't need a 'law' telling me when to salute or not salute--just try and stop me or any veteran from honoring our flag or a person worthy of our respect by rendering a salute to them as we see fit. MOO.
