Orlando Knife Carry Laws?
Anyone familar with personal knife carry laws in Orlando? Kyo maybe?
I was asked this question by a SHOT Show attendee from Germany and I also think there are a couple folks from here going.
Yes I could Google it but it won't account for the shades of gray.
Thanks in advance.

Yeah, don't.
Standard folder is ok but fixed blade is a no no. Nothing over 3 1/2 inches in total length. Got that from an OPD aquaintance.
NDD, your smatchet won't fly here. Ok, maybe it would fly but it's illegal.

Kyo,
Thank you very much. This is for my friend Tobias who is traveling from Germany with Boker to be in Orlando.
"common pocket knife" That would be an interesting term to define given todays market.
3.5 inches OVERALL??? OPEN??? I haven't seen a folder that small before.

Mr H,,
As another Florida boy, I hesitate to give any advise on this topic.
Not because the legal info is not readily available, but because the Orlando area has a vast LEO population of fine people,, some with BIG CITY experience, others much more rural.
And the real rubber on the street,, is the LEO you talk to.. throw in a "fur'n akcent" and all bets are off..
You may want to call the guys at 4857 South South Orange Blossom Trail and see what they have to say..
Just curious,, Is your friend from Germany shipping his/her inventory via a freight carrier or on the plane(ck'd luggage)??
I bet that will be the tail to tell...

Copy all and Thanks for the info.
Pretty sure they ship freight because of the size of the display they put up.
Friend was asking out of respect for Florida and Orlando law which of his knives he might have in his pocket outside of the show. Seems like we have the answer.
Team Sergeant,
you don't play fair. How long has this been a problem?

Well, I am driving, have a Flordia and NC CCW, so I think I am good to go as well.
Bill, do they issue CCWs in Oreygun?

TR,
Yes, Ory-gun issues CCW's with required class to prove applicant understands the laws and knows which end the projectile comes out of.

Thank you Bill
Good Day!
Thank you for all your answers and of course, thank you Bill for asking this here!
I have had no problem carrying my SnG with me.
It was very nice meeting you in Orlando and I will keep you posted on the 5.5" project as...
I hope to see some more projects in the near future...
Greetings from Germany,
Tobias

I know this is a bit late, but a quick reference I use for knife laws on the internet is located here.
Once I check it there, I pull up the appropriate section and paragraph on the state AG website in order to get the most updated information, and then print out a copy to take with me when I travel.
Hopefully that helps you out in the future for any knife law questions.

I don't carry a sheath knife as my EDC, but am constantly carrying blades that are longer than this 3 1/2" as stated. I believe as long as it fits in your pocket, even with a clip, the police do not bother you in any way. However, I've been told by a few that come into the shop that it is the policeman's option and decision if they wish to seize ANY knives and to get them back from them would cost WAY more than you'd probably want to spend!! So, stay clean and everything will be just fine!!
Mr. Harsey, I missed you at the show, everytime I went looking for you I was told you were out looking for someone else!! Too bad you did not make it to the shop, hopefully another time though!
