Importance of Situationl Awareness

Gentlemen, I wanted to share this with you. I thought you might appreciate it, it is too good of a story to pass up!

A true story from one of my brothers, I thought I would share it with you! Great story as to why I'm forwarding it.
A TRUE Story!
The title of this Story is the IMPORTANCE OF SITUATIONAL AWARENESS
I gave a lot of consideration to the importance of sharing the following event with everyone, but at the end of the day I felt that my brothers would enjoy it.
I have worked with a retired Marine Corps Colonel for the past year at TSA, and we have grown to be friends. I guess being a Navy Corpsman just never leaves your blood, and I have always felt a duty and responsibility for a Marine. When my friend was diagnosed with an aggressive Lung Cancer as a result from his inhalation of petroleum fumes in Iraq during the opening months of desert storm, that feeling intensified. He enjoys going over to a Starbucks across the street from TSA H Q, and I have made it a point everyday to accompany him over there for a Latte. I lost more marines than I care to count when I was in Nam and watching this guy slowly lose his fight with cancer is taking a toll on me. I share this with you only to set my frame of mind for the story.
On Tuesday this week my friend and I ventured over to Starbucks as usual to have our Lattes. For Situational Awareness; this Starbucks has as a regular clientele of TSA HQ personnel, Pentagon folks, and DEA Ops Center people. Probably what you would describe as patriotic and morally focused individuals. We were in line to order when I noticed two rather long hair 60’s Hippy type guys seated at a table. One had a nap sack with a Harvard Univ. sticker on and Save the Seals and every other fucking species on the face of the planet. The other had every clichéd anti-war slogan that every was uttered on his nap sack. Get the picture??
This alone was not enough to evoke either our interest or comment. It was their very loud comments concerning two female soldiers who were outside passing by the window of the Starbucks. Their comments ranged from “Pig Ass Baby20Killers” to “I hope some Arab finds Allah while stringing you up by your tits.” This last loud comment elicited the attention they were looking for! As is stated in the title, the IMPORTANCE OF SITUATIONAL AWARENESS cannot be overly emphasized when one choices to make asshole comments in public. The Colonel and myself approached them, along with three of the biggest black guys I have ever seen. The black guys were all in suit and ties and worked for DEA, with the distinction of being ex Army Rangers. They arrived at the table ahead of us and with little or no conversation, the largest of the DEA guys had picked up one of the ass wipes by his hair and had him suspended off of the floor. There was not one cry of indignation from anyone in the place. Not from the employees or patrons. These ass wipes were clearly on their own, and it was shaping up to be pretty ugly.
Out of the corner of the Starbucks a woman in her 50’s came up and asked for us to let the ass wipes go on their way. My first thought was “Shit, another Lib”, but it turns out she was a TSA employee who had recently lost her son in Iraq. It was what she said to the two assholes that was startling. Simply put she said; “My son gave his life s o you two could come here and speak your mind. I sense that your hatred and prejudice can’t make the connection of how he has secured your freedoms, and that’s a shame, but I insist that you honor his comrades that are willing to do the same.” With that she left.
The two ass wipes were visibly shaken. Rather by her words or the fact that they were about to be dismembered I am not sure. The Colonel did get his parting comments to the tune of; “If you come back here I will rip of your head and shit down your neck.” Not necessarily an original comment, but one that both of the ass wipes absolutely believed!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It made my friends day. He always wanted to say that!

Classic. Thanks for sharing. Wish I could've been there.

I hope I am not out of line to post this, especially in a thread labeled situational awareness. I thought some here might like this story.

I was making a connection through DTW last week when two young girls around 5 and 7 stepped in front of the guy next to me. I stopped and smiled when I heard their mother say in a stern but calm voice "girls, maintain your situational awareness." Both quickly returned to single file formation beside mom.

Nice little story Trap. Good parent. I love to hear that. I just wish more parents were like that.
