I don't remember the name, I have seen a "modular" stock system for the M14 that was much cleaner looking. I'll have to see if I can find the name.

I like this stock better, enough 1913 rail space, but much lighter and not so bulky.

Hollis - You thinking of the Sage stock?

Mark - Can't hang enough doodads off of it.

Thanks Rick, That looks like it.

I still like the original issue. It is heavy enough with out all the extras "do-dads".

needs a bipod

hey all,

i need to find a sling mount fon my M1A scout. it has the hole in the stock for it already. i looked this part up on the net, but everywhere i looked they are sold out. it looks like a plate that you drop into your stock after you remove the upper, and in the middle is a sling nipple that extends through the hole in the foregrip.

if anyone has any leads on where i can get this part, i would really like a hook-up.

thanks.

Uh, where is the hole? One of the forestock holes, near the metal ferrule, is to assist in the gas escaping when the piston blows back to set everything in motion. I would not place anything in that hole. You need to add another hole and then mount a sling swivel stud with backing plate in the hole. Make sure the backing plate does not interfere with the operating rod and that it is curved to match the stock. Inletting it would be better but requires some small gun smith skills. This will allow you to mount a Harris bipod or any bipod that will mount on a sling swivel stud.

Just something to think about.

Thank you brother,

so filling that hole is a bad thing, noted! So where were you when I was in that Korean 'strip club'? I could have used your 'holes not to fill' advice and direction there too!

anyway I did find a replacement for the front sling mount with a rail on it. it has a channel for the gas to escape, since it covers the mentioned hole. it's 60 bucks. for that kind of money, do you think that it would secure enough hold a steal bipod?
