Myself and a Coworker made it into this class at the last minute.
Day one started with a brief classroom portion that covered "combat mindset" and the bearing that it had on all portions of the class. This section was presented in a very easy to follow format by Instructor Travis H, and well illustrated with concise definitions, pertinent photographs, and well placed video presentations.
From the classroom, first drill out of the gates was to verify Zero at 50 yds from the prone position.
From here, we advanced to roughly 7 yds where the instructors discussed the balance between speed and accuracy. No sense having exceptionally accurate hits in 5 minutes, nor wildly sprayed misses in less than a second. All drills from this point on stressed a "middle of the road" approach with acceptable accuracy delivered in rather brief periods of time.
Communication was stressed with a series of partner drills that required the shooter to transition from their primary weapon to secondary, and communicate with their partner in order to maintain effective fire on target while the shooter's primary weapon was brought back into action.
In the first training day, we went on to cover a wide variety of topics from equipment choices to malfunction clearance, to improvised position shooting, as well as some transition drills from strong side to "reaction" side . Training day one concluded with a night shoot that included brief overviews of many low light techniques utilizing primary weaponlights, secondary weaponlights, and handheld lights.
Training day 2 advanced rather rapidly from where TD1 had left off with topics covered including one handed malfunction clearance, shooting on the move, and shooting/moving/communicating as a team. TD2 also included Barricade work stressing use of cover/concealment, and the utilization of firing ports in said cover/concealment.
This is a very much abbreviated AAR of this particular course, and if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask me about specifics.
I recommend Magpul Dynamics Carbine 2 course to folks who have attained basic mastery of the carbine platform and wish to begin to advance their skills beyond that level. Instructors Chris C, and Travis H are very competent and provide excellent instruction in a format that is easy to follow, and does not take itself too seriously; while all the while stressing adherence to and complete mastery of basic fundamentals of rifle marksmanship and firearms safety.
Also, be advised that I expended approximately 1500 rounds of carbine ammo and 400 or so rounds of pistol ammo during the course of this class, so it is a bit intense for a 2 day course, but well worth it IMO.
