Electoral College tie in the making?
I was fooling around with election scenarios last night and came up with a plausible one in which Obama and McCain tie in the Electoral College.
My understanding is that, if this were to occur, there would be a period of six weeks after the election during which members of the EC could potentially switch their votes. If there was still a tie after six weeks, the matter would be decided by the House, where each state gets one vote (unless the delegetion is evenly split, in which case no vote is cast).
Based on the current composition of each state's delegation, McCain would lose the vote in the House by a large margin.
So...who wants to work on the UW op to get an EC member to defect?
