DXing ACUs after SFAS?

How does one DX ACUs after SFAS in the same manner you do for Ranger School?

I'm trying to get the paperwork right so I can get the new ACUs from an AAFES MCSS on Camp Casey.

Agassi has an example showing 2 sets are authorized for Ranger School but no boilerplate example for SFAS.

It used to be in order to DX something you had to get issued it by CIF in the first place. AAFES doesn't do DX, MCCS doesn't do DX, these are retail outlets, not issue facilities.

Never seen or heard of anyone doing this. Everyone I've seen just brought their old deployment duds, or purchased used uniforms from the Yadkin thrift / pawn / surplus shops beforehand.

The Ranger school thing has been around for a long time and is only good if you have been issued them from a unit or CIF. It also depends on where you are currently posted. SFAS is just a selection process, Ranger school is a School and for that has had that policy instituted for ever. You will just have to suck it up like all that have gone before you have. Pinhead is right on that a lot of people that did not have well used uniforms go off post and get some cheap to trash. Hope you enjoy SFAS...

In the old days we got Camies/Jungles/BDU's/etc when you arrived at your unit and then you could DX old ones. You will have to see IF you make it through selection/the course. Focus on the Prize and do not worry about the small financial burden you may incur. Drink a little less in the village and you can replace the uniforms. PT, PT, PT

If they don't DX them at SFAS then wait until you get to Group.

I'm not sure what the current issue is but when I was still in it was around six pair of uniforms.

Uniforms

Due to the new Army Combat Uniform, as far as I know, there isn't a uniform issue standard in Group just yet. In addition to the optempo, there are also other types of issues you will recieve, i.e. RFI, and the 2 uniform "plus up" while down range.

This is my second rotation overseas with Group and I've been issued a total of 6 uniforms, and we dont have the option to DX yet. Also I have never recieved an issue at Group. Let there be no doubt though, IF you get here..you will get what you need.

Have you finished the Q Yet?
If so as I think you have, send your QP Info to TS for vetting so you can change to QP instead of SF Candidate.....

I made it as far as having a DA 3078 signed but at the MCSS the book of examples forms did not include one reflecting a "SFAS DX". Prior to hearing some other candidates mention it in SFAS, I did not even think it was an option. I have tried asking in a few other circles to no avail.

Thanks for the help.

I was the supply sergeant for my unit when I was active duty. (2003-2007) Whenever we had guys coming back from SFAS I would fill out a DA3078 and have the CO sign it. You must note the paragraph number and source. Its been a while now and I don't remember exactly what it was. But the point is; it's possible, and I've done it. Supply NCO and CO have to care though and make it happen. It falls under the same AR/DA PAM that explains the DX after Ranger School. Thats a good starting point.
