2008 Summer Olympics

Well, the games of the 2008 summer Olympics are underway.

Nice opening ceremony on China's part. The U.S. team got a much warmer reception, than I thought they would.

Politics and talk of Pro athletes competing (I think we're all in agreement that they SHOULDN'T participate) aside, these games look to be, very competitive.

Sooooo, with that being said.........GO U.S.A. !!!!!

Already had US team family members attacked and killed by a knife wielding Chinese nutjob.

Great venue.

crossfit got me back to following gymnastics. Some crazy stuff from the Chinese team. They always pick the hardest routine.

I might follow shooting as well.

I guess swimming is the highlight in this olympic. Many records are broken, but one athlete that I'm rooting for is Dara Torres. When they show her off-the-pool exercises, my jaw literary dropped. One hardcore lady! No intention to be sexist here; Not only the exercises are extremely difficult for female (ie. upper body exercise such as weighted dead-hang pull-ups, jumping push-ups), most male gym goers would have trouble with them as well.

How 'bout that Men's 4x100 relay team !!!!

Coming back from at least 12 feet behind in the last leg, to beat Phrance by 0.08 seconds, and get the Gold.

Michael Phelps is incredible...winning another gold tonight, but young Rebecca Soni coming on strong and winning a gold medal for the 200m breaststroke was awesome!

Dara is a part-time local here in Sun Valley, and needless to say EVERYONE in the valley is cheering her on.

Having meet her a few times (beautiful, funny and built!) and watched her training up for 08, it is impossible to not be impressed with Dara.

Cannot wait to witness Dara laying down a 41-year old smack down on all those baby minnow wannabes!!!! Heck, her goggles are older then most of her rivals!

Women's rowing team

I'm not a follower of rowing...but congrats to the women for winning the gold!

I REALLY enjoyed their medal ceremony, they actually sang the anthem and had such true joy on their faces as they did so...

Well done!
