Thumbs up What Irritates SF?

Greetings from a humble civilian, but I am asking a serious question? What irritates You, as SF Soldiers?
I am curious, so as to have it out in the open?

Just a liitle ?

Officer's who don't let us do our job.
Death by Power Point.
Needless paperwork.
Senior NCO's who don't take care of the soldiers, and instead play the political games....and of course
Spelling Potato wrong on an open forum.

Thank You Max_Tab, for sharing that.
The first three, I can only imagine...

The last one, well, gramatical errors happen, to us all.

1. Being called a hat.

2. Hero Wannabes in SF who worship themselves.

Thanks for sharing QRQ 30. A "Hat" is probably beyond my comprehension...though I have been called "too nice"?

Self-worship exists in a few fields I am familiar with. Like Music. When A Musician chooses to believe that they are God's Gift...
it is annoying to me. The really good ones, you know...are humble.
That is JMHO.

Echoes and All: By "Hat" I meant being called a "Green Beret".

One other thing that really irritates me is the Wannabe Hunters. There are wannabes in the world who are truly a disgrace to SF and are public enough that they need to be exposed for the phonies they are. I concede that.

However, it seems that if you even mention that you were in Special Foorces you are immediately subjected to the dumbass secret handshakes, questions etc. I proved myself 40 years ago and refuse to continue to prove who, or what I am. Ask me stupid questions and expect equally outlandish answers. I'm a little old for it now but there was a timewhen I would ask a wannabe hunter how he would like to go back and explain how he just had his ass kucked by a leg "spoon". I have done so more than once.

My appologies Sir. I was in no way attempting to ask a "dumbass" question. And at the very least, I have irritated you, which was not my intention.

Please disreguard this thread. One day I will wake to realize what true SF is, until then, I may step on my d**k once in a while.(if I had one)

Echoes: I wasn't refering to you at all. You have not upset me in any way.

I was referring to the members of SPecial Forces who have to challenge anyone they don't know. There were just too many people in SF to know all. Besides, the little wannabes have better stories than I.

I merely mentioned you because I thought you may not have I was referring to being called a "Green Beret" when I said "Hat".

You are cool.

Smile Explaination

Folks: Apparently I wasn't clear yesterday in a comment about Irritants, Please allow me to explain.

1. It is one thing to be placed upon a pedestal above others. It is another thing entirely to place yourself upon that pedestal.

2.A scenario: I am downtown and lets say I am getting a haircut. The barber asks what I do and I say I'm Retired. He then asks if I was in the service and I say Yes. He then asks what branch and I say Army. (Notice I tend to be non-commital). He then asks what I did in the Army and I answer that I was in Special Forces.

Now the BS starts. He starts the third degree ansking about the "Secret Handshake", who was in the 4th SFGA, how many PLFs I carried in my kit bag, etc. This type of "wanabe hunting" really irritates me. IMHO questions like this are totally out of line and an insult to me. If I were making vast claims of heroism it would be different. Yet, I see queries almost daily on another forum asking "Does anyone know??

A simple "How do you do" and "Glad to meet yoe", would be more appropriate.

Thank You!

I get the same crap just because I am proud of my 2 years with 5/19 and list it where required. I've been the subject of several witch hunts by poser hunters who turned out to have no prior or current service whatsoever.

I agree, If I was making wild claims and such it would be a different matter.

I think that irritates every prior service person.

Sorry bout the hijack. Carry on.

In no particular order:
Poison ivy, chiggers, North Carolina ticks, rucksack straps on mile 37, bad boots, missing (I don't know first hand, but I've heard...), dull knives, dropping the med bag and the zipper breaks, quitters, malingerers in the TMC, having to translate for people that spent 5+ years in Group, clowns, overcooked food, bad water, forgetting to change grid to magnetic or vice versa, people that don't train their dogs and still let them off leash, poor weapons handling skills, poor tradecraft, OPSEC violators, peace, the US system of higher education, racists, cheaters, CSMs asking "who authorized you to start an IV in that man?" Anybody named Rambo or Bone, rucksack coming loose in freefall, dog and pony shows, patients that won't be still, wet socks, no beer, piss poor planning, unsound tactics, braggarts, being lied to, being flagged, being set on fire by bangs, being called off after standing to, no jumps, legs, loadmasters acting like the second coming, bad pilots, people afraid to ask questions or admit they don't know something, not walking point, non-team players, goats, Lakers winning another championship, warm beer, ROTC cadets going to CDQC, waste, fraud and abuse, credit card interest, sweat shops, people who abuse their authority, surely waiters, the French, 18xers just starting out when I'm too old to play anymore, quitters, those too afraid to try something, being called a hat, 10th Group (not really, but don't tell Razor...), being coined checked and not having one, and quitters.

That is the general list, I have a specific list for each day depending on what I am doing.
