Weird facts that confuse the issue:
- Our nanny has a wireless laptop that works off the same router...no issues.
- Our desktop runs off the router via cat 5 cable...no issues.
- Comcast repair guy just tested router and said there's no issues.
- Comcast repair guy said we should be able to run 4 computers off the router before one gets bumped off.
- My laptop runs off the cat 5 no issues.
- My laptop will "pick up" wireless networks. Even lists them as being available/connected.
- Here's the issue: When I click on Internet Explorer, it comes up as unable to connect.
- Asked geek Squad for advice: they said it could be spyware, coul be issue with Norton.
- Just added Web Root Spy Sweeper and removed 45 spy cookies.
- Still no joy.

1st do not worry about the 45 spy cookies. They just collect info and will not down your wireless.
2nd Your nanny's is working so you have no wireless problem on the router side. Your problem is on your laptop.......
What type of laptop are you using? Dell/Toughbook/Gateway/etc ????
What is your browser? (IE) I assume that it works with your CAT5 hookup so your problem is not the browser.
If you work on the CAT5 then your firewall is OK, but check to make sure that you do not have any restrictions unique to wireless.
Go to control panel/security center and make sure the advanced has a check in Wireless Network connection. If not check it or add it. This will keep you from connecting.
Now go in to network connections and disable and close, go back in and re-enable. It will think for a minute and the WIFI icon will show that it is seeing your home wireless.
Now depending on what you use to interface with your wireless card you may have to do some different things.
If you have the Intel Pro Set/Wireless icon in the lower right open it. What you will need to do is open it and look at your profiles. Erase the old home profile and do a scan..... Find your home wireless and configure it.... Make sure you do the proper encryption.
Reboot your laptop and go in and detect your WIFI. Check everything and you should be able to get in now. XP is a bugger and gets confused with WIFI and hard line connections. If this does not work I can with the above questions answered give you one more route to fix it Monday.
Good luck
